Designer dictionaries

In a world where everything is on the web this 1939 edition of the « Nouveau petit Larousse illustré » reminds us that design was for the everyday even back the 30s, this dictionary with fascinating illustrations particularly the engravings is one to keep in your old favourites.

RAWGH

I have a thing about dinosaurs, and with a teacup ! Oh itsnt it just a perfect combo. To Dry For are essentially a company that JUST sells teatowels....start a collection, I think I will :)

Busybusy

This is a dainty crowd bustling about their daily lives round the rim of your glass...makes me think about the borrowers, love Reiko Kanekos ingenious thinking process.

Geometric-delight

This had made my smile a whole lot bigger...Anna Corpron does lasercutting goodness at its best...also see in steel, silver, gold, acrylic. Eye-catching :)I want something ooo

Tic-Toc

This is my watch I cant remember what number I have, but its a limited edition of 100 its a relaxed way of telling the time....ie I always miss my train, it makes me clock watch for different reasons, to take a deep breath and just chill the hell out. I highly recommend purchasing one, I also have my eye on the 'I love you, I love you not' watch but there is no way I am going self-gift that one!

Cycle-mad

I have decided that I need this...end of....need I say more ? Okay then, just one of those things that you think will help your life ! Welldone Madsen Cycles !

Going for Gold

Arent these great, its unusual these days to find a jeweller who just goes about their making in a completely different way to others. Problem is I would have to save up for all four of these stunning ones ! Anne Manna is definatly one to watch ! Find her in Denmark

Contemporary Midcentury

Zoe Murphys' work literally leaves me speechless. Its one of the greatest combinations of midcentury furniture and contemporary techniques....so fabulous ! I want to BE her !

At the Cockpit

Cockpit Arts are a fantastic company, I cant rave about them enough. I am interning with them for three months and project managing the Christmas Showcase. Lots of hardwork but I cant tell you how much I enjoy and love it ! The people who work here, Josie Ballin, Vannessa Swann, Abi Branagan, Ellen O'Hara, Emma Thatcher, Adrian&Becky, Hugo and Alex, are all just so talented and top of their game that it is quite overwhelming at times.

The Designer-makers too are an inspiration to the industry as the papers remind us on a daily basis how no one is going to have a job...these designer makers are doing it for themselves and becoming very successful in the process !

Check out Lauren Moriarty, a chatty plotter whose work I love and long for!
Also Ruth Martin with her handmade (!!) rubber stamps they are quite something, and she adds that English humour that we all love !

Sneak Peak

I quite like these new Christmas Cards from the V&A, unfortunatly Ive already got mine ! (rolling hedgehogs oh yes!)I especially like the one by Dave Burden (top right) I have a thing about wording, I am sure you will find this out in good time !

Whittle & Ink

This has caught my eye today by Karen Ryan, I have a fascination with chairs & different ways they can be displayed and formed ... the ghost of the human form left behind ? The chair is something that everyone has something to do with everyday, just one of those ordinary objects, but for someone to capture it so instinctively is so lovely to see.
